DETAILED STORY OF PARASYTE THE MAXIM ANIME

It all starts with a slow-paced takeover of parasites over the earth. The high school student and parent residence of our main character, Shinichi Izumi turns dark and the window glass shatters. One night, an alien parasite tries to take over his brain, but Shinichi is able to stop it from getting to his head. The parasite has attacked and there is no way back. As a result, the alien takes control of his right hand since it can take over the brain. With his extraterrestrial parasite, Migi (Shinichi has named it) he must learn to live in harmony. Initially, the two are just concerned with their own survival. Migi wants to eat human flesh in order to survive, while Shinichi wants to keep his secret hidden. To fight off further parasitic alien invaders that are coming to Earth, they eventually forge a relationship and start cooperating.

Goto is a parasitic alien who can control several parasites at once and is one of the main antagonists of the series. Goto wants to rule the entire planet. In order to stop Goto and his minions, Shinichi and Migi must work together with other humans who have survived parasitic attacks. More people join the team such as the tenacious and resourceful Kana and the compassionate, justice-seeking detective Kuramori. As he wrestles with the ethical ramifications of coexisting with a parasitic alien throughout the course of the series, Shinichi's character turns mature. He is compelled to confront his own humanity, what it means to be human, and the issue of whether parasites are good or evil by nature.

There are a number of plot twists and turns that occur as the series goes on to keep the viewers on the edge of their seats. One of the major turns comes when an alien parasite kills Shinichi's mother. This leads him to seek vengeance and become more brutal in his behavior. Another crucial turning point occurs when Kana gives her life to save Shinichi and Migi from Goto. She could do this through the telepathic bond she formed with the parasites. The story comes to a close with an epic showdown between Shinichi, Migi, and Goto in which the future of humanity is at stake. Without giving too much away, the conclusion of Parasyte The Maxim is both satisfying and thought-provoking, leaving the audience with a lot to consider.
