We have to say that Gurren Lagann is the first anime in the race of this particular genre. Gurren Lagann is one of the best and this can be proved by anyone who has watched it. The inspiration of the ones that revolve around the plotline of saving the world from a huge conspiracy of governments and robots can be similar but Gurren Lagann is very different. No one would deny how cool the effects, story, and concept are in the anime. You can say that Gurren Lagann is the one who has set the bar high for every anime coming after it.

PLOT OF GURREN LAGANN

In the future, humanity isn’t as happy as it is today. The conspiracies of the powerful and the fear in humans have engulfed anything that can said to be called peace. Now, everyone in the world lives in small village-like areas underground. These are not high-tech cities or anything, the areas are more like suburbs where humans are living a life of despair. Everyone is afraid of the earthquakes that cause havoc every now and then. It seems like there is no way out of this life for anyone, however, there are some gallant heroes without capes who are working hard to find a way out.

In one of the villages called Giha, we can see a teen boy Simon who has a cool dude's older friend Kamina. Immediately, Kamina catches sight because he though is flamboyant but, the guy is working for the greater good of all. He and his gang are digging underground to connect with other villages and see what is on the surface. You might have guessed that Kamina and his gang are against the rule and wish to find the truth themselves. Although Simon is too young but Kamina takes him into his cult, the Team Gurren. As they keep digging further and further, Simon finds a drill-like key and the team then unearths a robotic suit that Kamina names Lagann.

While the awe of the mecha takes place, the village is attacked by another Gunmen which seems more powerful. Kamina and Simon fight the Gunmen with their Lagann and guess what? They win!
