Taki Tachibana

Taki is a handsome high school guy usually dressed in uniform or casual clothes but carries himself quite well and which is why many girls get attracted to him. He is fun to be with and is found enjoying himself with his friends in Tokyo. In the meanwhile, he also works as a part-time worker in an Italian restaurant.

Considering his personality, Taki is hardworking, disciplined, and selfless. He always tries to solve problems rather than running away from them no matter how difficult the circumstances become. Well, his only dream is to become an architect and work enough to change his lifestyle and become the most successful in the world.

Being the protagonist of Your Name, Taki goes through the incident of his soul being swapped with a girl about whom he doesn’t even know where she lives. The things turned out to be more complicated for him as being in a girl’s body was anything he expected. However, he played his role exceptionally and made Mitsuha famous at her school, and freed her from her father’s authoritarianism.

Mitsuha Miyamizu

Mitsuha, belonging to a religious family works as a priestess at her family’s shrine. She is beautiful and attractive but wishes to get rid of her lifestyle in the small rural area of Itomori. She has been wishing to turn into a good-looking boy whose life isn’t bounded to anything, who lives freely without being caged like a girl.

When Mitsuha finds herself in a boy’s soul, she thought all this is a dream but it was the fulfillment of her wish. After a while, she adjusts herself well in Taki’s body and enjoys this swap. Actually, this was all she ever wanted! Mitsuha worked at the restaurant, went out with Taki’s friends, explored Japan, and took numerous pictures to remember the moments.

If we look into her personality closely then Mitsuha is the one who is always found smiling no matter how much pain she is in. It is believed that she had some spiritual powers and as she employed it, Mitsuha exchanged her soul but apparently she had no idea that she was capable to do this.

Miki Okudera

Who wouldn’t fall for eyes like Miki’s! No doubt why Taki had a crush on her. She is like an angel on earth with amber eyes, maroon hair, and trendy clothes. Miki and Taki worked at the same Italian restaurant. But her looks and attractive personality haven’t made her rude or proud instead she is kind and compassionate. However, the only negative trait that she has is smoking.

Mitsuha tried to bring Taki and Miki close and arranged their dates and made Taki look more confident. She was very much successful in this as well but observed Taki wasn’t much interested in her and loved someone else.

When Taki was in search of Mitsuha, Miki was also along with him and made sure both unite. Though we do not know what happened with her afterward but at least she got married to Okudera.

Hitoha Miyamizu

Hitoha is Mitsuha’s maternal grandmother more than 80 years of age. She is the character in Kimi No Na Wa who has given the viewers an insight into Japanese traditions and culture. Wearing a kimono, spectacles, and gray hair, Hitoha seems like a traditional and sweet old lady. She is the one who raised Mitsuha and her sister.

Did you know that Hitoha means “one leaf” and she named her daughter Futaba that means “two leaves”, her granddaughter Mituha meaning “three leaves” (isn’t that amazing!!!) being the oldest member of the family, she is the only one who knew about the “soul swapping” ability running in the Miyamizu family.

When Taki and Mitsuha try to find out the reason for the incident, Hitoha never disclosed the reality. But when Taki in Mitsuha’s body urged to raise his voice against her father, Hitoha also stood up for her granddaughter. If you are thinking what Your Name character are you?
