The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to be Archenemies is a work of fiction, romance, magic, and comedy genre. The story is loaded with twists and turns. The main character Byakuya, is from the small shop (Glass Happiness) – the new powerhouse who fights against the evil organization. On the other side, we have Mira, one of the evil lieutenants and technically her archnemesis belongs to a totally different universe, though they slowly become friends. However, when these two meet for the first time Mira who is this ‘dark side’ is instead attracted to Byakuya’s magical girl side. Their encounters take on a humorous and almost endearing rhythm: Mira completely messes up her role as the antagonist to the story and instead brings him things like cake and cheesecake to be closer to him.
The two main characters are not your standard warring ones; they end up eating desserts together, seeking shelter under an umbrella in the rain, and making stupid but cute advances at one another. And just when you could not make this more ironic, Byakuya’s magical mascot is not only cute and seemingly innocent but has connections with the yakuza. It is one of them that once again means that Byakuya’s heroism might not be as innocent as everybody assumes – another twist of irony in the story.

HAS THE ANIME MADE EVERYONE HAPPY?
For The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to be Archenemies, the critics are still divided a lot. The concept of an archnemesis developing a crush on the magical girl is appealing and is similar to the World Conquest Zvezda plot. But the execution is quite a long way, shy of the quirky rom-com that it hints at for most of the movie. Audiences are cold towards the romance while the comedy gets either contrived or only partially implemented.
The visuals appear to be dull or washed out and this did not assist in making the game feel cute or magical as is usually the norm with games in this particular genre. While there’s something to be said for the possibility of having an interesting love-to-hate dynamic.
